Sanitation

Sierra Leone faces major sanitation, water, and hygiene challenges. According to the CDC, “only 2% of the population in Sierra Leone has access to clean, readily available drinking water, and most households lack basic sanitation.” DOM seeks to assist communities in gaining access to clean water and essential hygiene products that may have been unavailable. Our past efforts have supplied bottled drinking water during school activities, repaired well pumps, renovated school toilets (latrine), to name a few. Alongside our Sanitation initiative, our “Quench the Thirst” campaign seeks to provide schools and communities access to clean running water using well pumps or portable water containers.
