Disability

Perhaps one of the most brutal atrocities ever experienced in the history of Sierra Leone is cutting off people’s limbs – in most cases hands and feet. Research shows more than 27,000 Sierra Leoneans have been disabled due to the 1991-2002 civil war. DOM currently supports victims of the Hanga Amputee Camp located in Potehun Junction, Kenema, Sierra Leone. In 2021, DOM delivered clothing, blankets and financial support to victims with limited ability to perform physical tasks or keep a job for survival. We seek to focus on their medical, educational, and psychosocial needs.
