Daniel & Notoya Bangura

Welcome to Dankays Outreach Missions (DOM), home for delivering assistance to individuals in need. We are DOMunity in the communities!

My wife, Notoya, and I cannot begin to testify the hundreds of lives already touched by dedicated folks like you who have taken the first step to address diverse humanitarian needs through volunteering and donation. Your bold step to visit reminds us of the smile DOM left on the face of a desperately poor 7-year-old girl, Destiny, during our 2021 mission trip in Sierra Leone. Like Destiny, there are thousands of poor sad faces all around the world, perhaps due to the threat of severe hunger and starvation. I often wonder what life is like when destitute children are totally ignored. What do they do to survive? The real question is what would happen if each of us start to help. When Notoya and I started DOM, we were clueless about where to start. We barely managed to care for our own, let alone others. We suddenly realized that sharing our vision with families, friends, neighbors and co-workers sparked the interest of volunteers and donors. Today, we are surrounded by ordinary folks like you whose mission have become “Delivering Assistance Needed Knowing Adversity Yearns Support”. Join our team. Bring DOMunity to your community. You’re destined to help! Thank you.

WHERE IT STARTED

Imagine a custodian bumps into a school bus operator and got trapped into a lifelong coalition. This was the case for Daniel who shares familiar social challenges with Notoya, in employment opportunities, healthcare, and education, to name a few. The couple’s humble beginnings, in Sierra Leone and Jamaica respectively, cultivate their passion to overcome adversity. In 2013, Notoya a licensed cosmetologist battled mental health, an encounter she now uses to strengthen individuals facing similar challenges. Daniel’s decade long employment with the Christian Assisted Living for Mentally Retarded Adults (CALMRA Inc.) echoes his familiarity with mental wellness. In 2017, the couple facilitated in launching CHANCE-2 Mental Wellness & Recovery Hub Jamaica Foundation. During the early to late 2000s, Daniel and Notoya served as Elders and ordained Deacons of their local church. Their growing commitment to service touched many lives, including two Nursing Home facilities in Laurel, Maryland. They currently own and operate a small heating and cooling business – an empowerment hub for education and career development. Through their leadership at Dankays Outreach Missions, Mr. and Mrs. Bangura presently sponsor three schools in Sierra Leone, totaling about 1,500 students. The Banguras believe that the grace of God, support of their children (Adina, Anida, Adnia, Aidan), families, friends, volunteers, and donors make serving together like a dream come true.
